A cognac house steeped in history
Together, let's go behind the scenes of the history of Guillon Painturaud... Did you know that the company is now run by two young sisters? But the history of the brand goes back much further than that.
It all began in 1610 in the small village of Biard, in Segonzac, where for many years the family's ancestors made their living as weavers. However, the call of the vine was stronger than all, and that's when they became winegrowers. A testament to this history, the estate is still located in the same village today.
In 1964, Jean-Pierre Guillon, one of the family's descendants, took over and married a certain Mrs Painturaud. The Guillon-Painturaud brand was born. In 1975, they began marketing their own Pineau des Charentes and a real love affair began between them and this quality product.
Their daughter, Line Guillon, took over a few years later, before handing over the winery to Elise and Mathilde.
Two sisters at the head of a Cognac wine estate
Women of Cognac! Élise and Mathilde, aged 24 and 26 at the time, decided in 2021 to take over the Guillon-Painturaud house and spread the brand around the world. But who are they?
The journey of the two sisters
Élise is the younger of the two. After a great career and experience in vine and wine technology, she obtained a degree in agricultural engineering. Today, she is the house cellar master and the manager of the smooth running of production.
Mathilde, for her part, studied business, for which she didn't hesitate to go abroad. Her many experiences mean that today she has naturally chosen to focus on the commercial side of the business.
Two complementary career paths which mean that today the 2 sisters form a fine duo who want to go far.
Independent producers of Pineau and Cognac
Today, Mathilde and Élise are continuing the fine tradition of the independent winegrower. They are determined to promote the house's tradition and expertise, as well as the beautiful terroir of Grande Champagne. They take great care to make sure that every stage of production is carried out with respect for the land and traditions. The resulting products are high quality and authentic. Grande Champagne reveals its best aromas.
Retaining the authenticity and tradition of the products while revitalising and modernising the brand is the guiding principle behind Two Sisters Distillers.
To boost the brand, the two sisters also offer original activities on the estate. Click here to find out more!
