A unique experience in Charente : Escape Game Spirits on Cognac
A new concept in the world of spirits, we, independent winegrowers, are offering an Escape Game on the theme of cognac and the history of the vine. Participants are locked in our old grape-pickers' room, just as it was in 1937, and have 1 hour to solve the riddles and find the recipe for blending cognac, as well as the bottle of cognac. Original, and for all generations! Our aim is to reach out to a younger target audience and give cognac a more dynamic image. The aim is to highlight the terroir, the product and the expertise of the independent winemaker. From the vine to the bottle, every stage in the production process is highlighted through a series of original riddles.
A memorable, original and creative experience
More than just a good time with family or friends, it's a real experience where participants are plunged into a world that was previously unknown to them, but whose secrets they'll be proud to have discovered. It's an immersive experience that leaves visitors with a lasting impression - quite the opposite, in fact. They'll have their minds full of memories as they discover cognac in a fun way.
Accessible to as many people as possible
Multi-generational activity, from 12 to 99 years old. The experience can be enjoyed by families, friends or colleagues during teambuilding sessions. When they took over the Guillon-Painturaud estate in 2021, the two young sisters, Elise & Mathilde, wanted to rejuvenate the image of cognac. What better way than with an Escape Game? It's a way of reaching out to a younger target group (particularly young professionals) and introducing people to cognac in a different way. Today, the gamble has paid off, as the estate's clientele has become much younger over the last 2 years.
Eco-friendly conception
Our wine estate is HVE certified, so we're showing visitors that the vine has its own cycle and that it's important to respect it. When designing our Escape Game, we took care to ensure that the accessories and materials used for the Escape Game had as little impact on the environment as possible. In concrete terms, we already had most of the accessories and furnishings and we gave them a second life: old chests, old barrels, wooden baskets and even an old still from Charente (surprise effect guaranteed)...
Being an actor, not a spectator
Rather than a simple visit where the visitor is a spectator, we're offering him the chance to be the actor himself. This Escape Game is based not just on logic but also on the senses. Like the winemaker in his daily work, the player must use his senses (sight, smell, touch) to solve the enigmas. The idea is to have a good time while learning. What's more, people are often curious to know more about cognac once the experience is over. So, once they've discovered how cognac is made, we invite them to enjoy the aromas during a guided tasting session.
An immersive experience to showcase the work of winegrowers
As independent winegrowers, we carry out every stage from the vine to the bottle. We like to share our expertise. So we wanted to transcribe and dramatise each of these stages through this Escape Game: vine-growing tools, harvesting, distillation, ageing, blending, bottling - it's all there. To get as close to the truth as possible and make the experience as immersive as possible, we've created all the puzzles ourselves and reused old-fashioned tools for guaranteed immersion! Walking through the Escape Game door is like stepping back in time!
